Do you realize you sent out a bunch of fraud ads?????
Just thought i would let you know...
Ashley
Hey Ashley:
I'm sure some of them are but then it doesn't take a genius to realize what's a fraud and what's not. I'm obviously not going to buy a pet from overseas unless it is exceptional or something I really really want. Otherwise I'm sure there are legitimate ads in there from legitimate people I have talked with personally. So all in all I have to consider allowing the fraudsters to post as they do post more often than others and also it does help attract people to the real ads.
I do have the facilities to edit very quickly the bad ads on the site with some custom code that I wrote called badadscheck.php but the site is in it's infancy more or less so the addition of any content is at the outset imparitive. How is this logical.
Well it's not to say that I'm in favour of bogus ads but honestly have you done a whois on kijiji.ca ever? Yeah, so you see for the average webmaster it is almost a loosing battle. When multinationals start to get into the classified ads game kiss all but the most hardy goodbye. kijiji is ebay and they have other sites as well.
Take www.Classifieds-Ads.ca for example. Without the help of the questionable ads the site wouldn't have become what it is today. What would that be you ask? To which I would reply Visable and found in the search engines. People happily flock to the sites if only to spam their websites. I dont' mind.
Organic. That is what it is. Who am I to edit and police the internet. I've done it before and at times I do it regularily. Start deleting ads with abandon. Why I ask myself after the fact. Those ads are a natural progression of the internet and they do bring me traffic. Anything blatently representing things that don't match my websites content I do delete - icky sexual dating things or otherwise are history.
All in all Ashley I've been doing this since 2002 and I've watched alot of sites fail where I have succeeded. I can't help the fact that people are disshonest - neither can I police them. Neither am I liable if someone wants to order a parrot from nigeria.
